— Jordan Evans, Journey Electrical
Journey Electrical manages every part of the Level 2 scope plus both Ausgrid applications. You don’t coordinate with the network operator. You don’t chase paperwork. You just get the outcome.

What Makes Us Different
The Detail Others Skip. The Standard That Matters.
Anyone can turn up and do the work. Not everyone can explain why it’s necessary, guarantee the calculations are right, or find a fault before it becomes a failure.
All Four Level 2 Categories — Under One Roof
Most Level 2 ASPs hold tickets in one or two categories. Jordan holds all four: metering, overhead power lines, underground services, and consumer connections. From the street to your main switch, one contractor handles the complete scope.
Every Application, Every Form, Every Approval — Handled
Level 2 work requires separate Ausgrid applications for metering and mains, each with a standard two-week turnaround. Journey Electrical manages both. You don't deal with the network operator. You just get a call when it's approved.
We Explain the Why — Before We Touch Anything
Level 2 work is a significant investment. Jordan explains the reasoning behind every recommendation before work begins — no pressure, no jargon, no surprises on the invoice.
Mining and Heavy Industry Background
Journey Electrical's director spent three years in heavy industry mines across Australia, eventually managing electrical operations internationally across the US and Laos. High-stakes, zero-tolerance environments. That standard carries into every job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions About Level 2 Electrical Work in Newcastle
Straight answers to the questions we hear most often. If yours isn’t here, call us directly.
1
What is a Level 2 Authorised Service Provider (ASP)?
A Level 2 ASP is a licensed electrician accredited by the network operator to work on the electrical infrastructure between the street network and your main switch. This includes consumer mains, metering, overhead power lines, and underground services. A standard electrician is not permitted to do this work. Journey Electrical holds full Accredited ASP status (No. 6807) across all four Level 2 categories.
2
What's the difference between an Authorised and an Accredited ASP?
There are two tiers of Level 2 ASP in NSW. An Authorised ASP operates with oversight. An Accredited ASP — the higher tier — is independently licensed to carry out all Level 2 works and lodge Ausgrid applications directly. Journey Electrical is Accredited, not simply Authorised. This distinction matters when emergency approval is required.
3
How much does a Level 2 electrical job cost in Newcastle?
Level 2 work varies significantly depending on scope. Journey Electrical provides a detailed scope and cost assessment before any work begins — no surprises on the invoice. Call us for a free, no-obligation assessment of your specific job.
4
How quickly can you respond to an electrical emergency?
Journey Electrical is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for genuine electrical emergencies. We aim to be on site within 2 hours. Critically, if the emergency involves the mains connection or overhead lines, we are the right call — standard emergency electricians are not licensed to restore a mains connection.
5
I've received a defect notice. What do I need to do?
A defect notice gives you 21 days to rectify a non-compliant installation. There are no extensions — after 21 days, your power is disconnected. Contact Journey Electrical as early as possible. We’ll inspect the installation, confirm the scope, lodge the Ausgrid application, and complete all works within the compliance window.
6
Can Journey Electrical handle all the Ausgrid paperwork?
Yes — this is a key point of difference. Level 2 work requires separate Ausgrid applications for metering and mains works, each with a standard two-week approval window. Journey Electrical manages both from start to finish. You don’t deal with Ausgrid at all. We handle everything and contact you when it’s approved.
7
Do I need a three-phase upgrade for an EV charger or solar system?
It depends on your existing supply and the load you’re adding. Most standard home EV chargers (7kW) can run on single-phase, but fast chargers (22kW+) and large solar systems over 10kW often require three-phase power. Journey Electrical assesses your full system before recommending an upgrade — we won’t recommend work that isn’t necessary.
8
What areas does Journey Electrical service?
Journey Electrical services the Greater Newcastle region including Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Cessnock, and Port Stephens. If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, call us directly — if we can get there, we will.
