Who We Are

One Licence. Every Service You Need.

Whether you need routine electrical work carried out safely, a full switchboard replacement, or access to Level 2 ASP services that most electricians simply can’t perform — Journey Electrical handles it all under one licence.
That means one call, one point of contact, and no jobs that need to be split between contractors. For properties that require both network-level work and standard electrical on the same job, the advantage is real — and it usually works out better for your timeline and your budget.
Not sure which service you need? Call us and describe what you’re dealing with. We’ll ask the right questions and point you in the right direction.

Credentials — What Each Means

NSW Government Accreditation

Inside or outside the property. Live wires need immediate isolation.

Issued by DCCEEW

Ausgrid Authorisation

Permission to perform work on Ausgrid’s specific network infrastructure, including emergency access to expedited approvals.

Issued by Ausgrid

Journey Electrical holds both — most operators hold only one.

What We Do

Everything We Offer

Accredited Level 2 ASP

Level 2 Electrician Newcastle

Everything between your property and the Ausgrid network — consumer mains, meter boxes, service line connections, Disconnect/Reconnect, and all four Level 2 categories. If you’ve received a defect notice or need network-level work, start here.

Residential & Commercial

General Electrical Services

Power points, lighting, safety switches, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, air conditioning circuits — everything that keeps a property running day to day. If we find something that needs attention, we’ll tell you plainly.

Power Upgrade

Three-Phase Power Upgrade

High-demand appliances, commercial equipment, or fast EV charging often require three-phase supply. Upgrading is Level 2 work — it must be carried out by an Accredited ASP. We manage the full process, including Ausgrid application, from a single point of contact.

Safety Upgrade

Switchboard Upgrades

Old ceramic fuse boxes are a safety issue, not just an inconvenience. Modern switchboards include RCD protection that keeps people safe — not just cables. We carry out full replacements to current standards, including metering coordination where required.

24/7 Emergency

Emergency Electrician Newcastle

Storm damage, fallen power lines, total loss of supply, or a switchboard fault? As an Accredited Level 2 ASP, we can authorise emergency restoration directly with Ausgrid. If a line is down, stay at least 8 metres back and call immediately.

EV CHARGING

EV Charger Installation

Home EV charging done properly. We assess your switchboard and mains capacity before a single cable is run. Real-world experience includes three-phase upgrades combined with EV charger installs — which often works out cheaper for our clients.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Not sure what type of work you need? These are the questions we hear most often.

Q

What types of electrical work does Journey Electrical do?

We cover Level 2 ASP work (consumer mains, service lines, metering, Disconnect/Reconnect), residential and commercial general electrical, EV charger installations, switchboard upgrades, three-phase power upgrades, and emergency electrical response. If it involves electricity on a property in the Hunter region, there’s a good chance we can help.

Q

What is a Level 2 electrician and do I need one?

A Level 2 electrician is accredited to work on the service infrastructure that connects your property to the electricity network. If you’ve received a defect notice from Ausgrid, need a new connection, want to upgrade your consumer mains, or have storm damage to your service line — you need a Level 2 ASP. Standard electricians cannot legally carry out this work.

Q

Can you handle both Level 2 and general electrical work on the same job?

Yes — and this is one of the advantages of working with Journey Electrical. Where a job involves both network-level work and standard electrical inside the property, we manage the full scope from one point of contact. This is common on EV charger installations that also require a three-phase upgrade or consumer mains upgrade.

Q

How do I know which service I need?

Call us and describe what’s happening. You don’t need to know the technical name for it — we’ll ask the right questions and point you in the right direction. If it falls outside our scope for any reason, we’ll tell you that too.

Q

Do you service the whole Hunter region?

Yes. We regularly work across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, Port Stephens, and the broader Hunter region. Call us to confirm if you’re in an outlying area and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Not Sure Where Your Job Fits?

Call us and describe what you’re dealing with. We’ll tell you what type of work it is, whether it’s within our scope, and what the next step looks like. No time wasted, no runaround.
